Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They allow the website to recognize your device on subsequent visits, remember your preferences, and collect information about how you use the site. Cookies are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and to provide information to site operators.
Beyond traditional cookies, similar tracking technologies include web beacons (transparent images embedded in web pages that track page views), local storage (browser-side storage that functions similarly to cookies but with larger capacity), and session storage (data stored only for the duration of a browser session). This Cookie Policy covers all such technologies used on stimaboda.org.
Cookies can be categorized in two ways. By duration: session cookies exist only for the duration of your browser session and are deleted when you close your browser; persistent cookies remain on your device for a defined period (their expiration date). By origin: first-party cookies are set by stimaboda.org itself; third-party cookies are set by external services operating on our site (such as analytics providers).
This Cookie Policy applies to stimaboda.org and the Stima web platform. It does not apply to the Stima mobile app (Android and iOS), which uses mobile platform analytics frameworks subject to separate privacy settings on your device.
Stima uses cookies for four primary purposes: to make the site function correctly (essential cookies that cannot be disabled without breaking core features); to remember your preferences between visits (preference cookies); to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it (analytics cookies); and to enable certain third-party integrations required for site operation (functional third-party cookies).
We do not use cookies for advertising targeting, retargeting, or any form of behavioral advertising. We do not sell cookie-derived data or audience profiles to third parties. The cookies we use are the minimum required for the site to function well and for us to understand aggregate usage patterns.
Essential cookies are strictly necessary for stimaboda.org to function. They cannot be disabled through the cookie consent banner because disabling them would prevent core features from working. Under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR guidance from the CNIL, essential cookies do not require prior consent. We still disclose them here for transparency.
Cookie name: stima_session
Type: Session cookie (first-party)
Duration: Session (deleted when browser closes)
Purpose: Maintains your authenticated session in the Stima web platform dashboard. Required for account login. Contains a cryptographically signed session token that identifies your session without storing personal data in the cookie itself.
Cookie name: stima_csrf
Type: Session cookie (first-party)
Duration: Session
Purpose: Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) protection token. Required for all form submissions to prevent unauthorized third-party requests on your behalf. Not readable by JavaScript; set with HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict flags.
Cookie name: stima_cookie_consent
Type: Persistent cookie (first-party)
Duration: 12 months
Purpose: Stores your cookie consent preferences (accepted or declined) so the consent banner is not shown on every page visit. Contains only the consent status and the timestamp of consent, not any personal identifier.
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use stimaboda.org, which pages are most visited, where visitors come from, and how they navigate through the site. This information helps us improve the site's content and usability. Analytics cookies require your consent and will not be set unless you click "Accept" on the cookie consent banner.
Cookie name: _ga, _ga_[ID]
Provider: Google Analytics 4 (third-party)
Duration: _ga: 2 years; _ga_[ID]: 2 years
Purpose: Measures page views, user flow through the site, session count, and aggregate traffic sources. We use Google Analytics with IP anonymization enabled (ipAnonymize: true), which truncates the last octet of each visitor's IP address before it is stored or processed. We have not enabled Google Signals and do not use Analytics data for remarketing.
Data processed by: Google LLC under Standard Contractual Clauses. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
Cookie name: _plausible, _plausible_session
Provider: Plausible Analytics (third-party)
Duration: Session (Plausible is privacy-first and does not set persistent cookies; it uses a daily rotating hash to count unique visitors without persistent tracking)
Purpose: Lightweight, privacy-preserving page view analytics. Plausible does not use cookies in the traditional sense and does not track users across sessions or sites. It counts page views and unique daily visitors using a hash derived from the visitor's IP address, user agent, and a daily rotating salt — the hash cannot be reversed to identify individuals. We include it here for complete disclosure.
Data processed by: Plausible Analytics OÜ (Estonia, EU). Plausible's data policy: plausible.io/data-policy
Functional cookies enable features that improve your experience but are not strictly essential for the site to work. These cookies require your consent under GDPR.
Cookie name: stima_theme
Type: Persistent cookie (first-party)
Duration: 6 months
Purpose: Remembers your visual theme preference (dark mode / light mode) for the Stima web dashboard. Without this cookie, the platform defaults to dark mode on each new session.
Cookie name: stima_lang
Type: Persistent cookie (first-party)
Duration: 12 months
Purpose: Stores your platform language preference (English, French, or Swahili) so you don't need to re-select your language on each login.
Cookie consent banner. When you first visit stimaboda.org, a cookie consent banner will appear at the bottom of the page. Clicking "Accept" enables all cookie categories, including analytics and functional cookies. Clicking "Decline" limits cookies to essential cookies only. Your preference is stored in the stima_cookie_consent cookie for 12 months. To change your preference, clear your browser cookies for stimaboda.org and the banner will reappear on your next visit.
Browser settings. All modern browsers allow you to control cookies through browser settings. You can configure your browser to block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or alert you when a cookie is being set. The methods vary by browser:
— Google Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
— Mozilla Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
— Apple Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
— Microsoft Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data
Please note that blocking essential cookies through browser settings will prevent you from logging into the Stima dashboard. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use the site but will mean we lose visibility into how the site is being used, which may reduce our ability to identify and fix usability problems.
Google Analytics opt-out. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. This add-on prevents the Google Analytics JavaScript from sharing information with Google Analytics.
Stimaboda.org embeds content or uses services from the following third parties that may set cookies on your device:
Google Analytics (Google LLC): Used for site traffic analysis. Google's cookie and privacy practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy. Stima has configured Google Analytics with IP anonymization enabled and has signed Google's data processing terms under the Standard Contractual Clauses for EU data protection.
Plausible Analytics (Plausible Analytics OÜ): Privacy-first analytics alternative. Plausible does not use persistent tracking cookies and does not transmit personal data outside the EU (servers are EU-based). Plausible's data policy is at plausible.io/data-policy.
We do not embed Facebook Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Twitter Pixel, or any other advertising network tracking pixels on stimaboda.org. If this changes, we will update this Cookie Policy and refresh the cookie consent banner to obtain new consent.
For quick reference, here is a summary of all cookies described in this policy with their maximum durations:

The legal basis for processing personal data via essential cookies is our legitimate interest in providing a functional, secure website and in fulfilling our contractual obligations to platform subscribers (Article 6(1)(b) and 6(1)(f) GDPR). Essential cookies do not require prior consent under the ePrivacy Directive because they are strictly necessary for a service explicitly requested by the user.
The legal basis for analytics and functional cookies is your explicit consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you provide when you click "Accept" on the cookie consent banner. You have the right to withdraw this consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before withdrawal. To withdraw consent, click "Decline" on the banner (accessible by clearing your stima_cookie_consent cookie) or use your browser settings to delete the analytics cookies listed in this policy.
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add or remove cookies, change our analytics providers, or when legal requirements change. When we make material updates, we will reset the cookie consent banner so that returning visitors are asked to provide fresh consent for any new non-essential cookies. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
We encourage you to review this Cookie Policy periodically to stay informed about our cookie practices. Continued use of stimaboda.org after a material change to this policy, without declining new cookies via the refreshed consent banner, constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
